Erik had thought that the moment Emma suggested it to him. He had continued thinking it for the remainder of the week, the two times Emma reminded him of it, and during the car ride into the city. He's still thinking it now.
Even more so now that he's standing inside the Book Nook, on their so-called 'Nookie Night'. "You must be joking," he had groaned when he first heard the name, to which Emma had only laughed. Ostensibly a singles night for the forty-plus crowd, it was at least paired with a storewide discount on books. It meant he could navigate the space and keep his eyes on the stacks, instead of everyone else.
He's bound to receive a dressing down from Emma over his lack of engagement, but as she was merrily chatting up some suit-wearing investment banker, he doubts she'll get around to it tonight.]
[ Charles straightens a pile of books as he watches people pair up. It's nice to know that this event was a success, even if Raven despaired of the name. Charles thought it was rather charming in an old-fashioned sort of way.
To which she called him an old fart. Ah well.
Then he noticed the wallflower in the background. That would never do. ]
I'm afraid even this pile of books isn't tall enough to hide you.
