[ he's not sure what he was expecting. perseus had been unclear about dimensional hopping and while loki was a world-walker by nature, moving from reality to reality was a tad different. hopefully, he got it right.
briefly, he wonders if poe would even want to see him. after all, poe wanted the stars. flight. his friends. loki hadn't factored into his plans and loki didn't expect him to. that was just childish, sentimental longing. at least it didn't hurt as much.
there were a few other people and loki glanced around, hoping to spot poe and not call attention to himself. though, given that he's wearing his robes, he's probably noticeable. ]
[ There was a lot to consider lately, given that Poe knows that other dimensions exist and it's theoretically possible for him to travel between them, and while that hasn't been far from his mind he's also been very busy trying to hold a rebellion together despite being stretched far beyond thin. Still, it's a jarring thing to see Loki strolling through the jungle, right as he's making his way back into camp, having just returned from a meeting with one of their scouts off planet.
He's as tired and ruffled as any of them, but that doesn't matter. Once it sinks in that he's not dreaming his expression lifts, and his feet are already carrying him over to Loki, and because he's Poe that comes along with a tight embrace. He'll ignore the confused looks from his fellow rebels for the time being. ]
Loki. When did you get here?
[ To say that it's good to see him would be an understatement. ]
[ oh. hugs were always a little confusing to him, though his time at astra had softened those edges he held so close. tentatively, his own arms come around poe, still a little surprised by the strength of the reaction. but loki has always been one to downplay himself in the memory of others. ]
I only just arrived. Is there a reason you're all in — [ and he can't quite help the tinge of distaste, being a spoiled prince. ] — a jungle?
[ Poe won't hold onto him for too long, he just needed that firm squeeze to convince himself that Loki is actually here and it's not some kind of multiversal mixup. He's already chuckling as he leans back, letting his hands skim down over Loki's arms, making no secret of the fact that he's reluctant to let him go, even if it's necessary so they can talk. ]
The First Order's got us pinned down out here. If we set up camp on a populated planet someone would be selling us out and we'd just have to move again.
[ They don't have unlimited time here either, but he doesn't want to get into that right now. ]
It's not too glamorous either, but we can talk in the Falcon. [ He nods toward the ship, sitting off to the side in the clearing. It's private at least. ]
[ what kind of name is first order? mortals come up with the strangest ideas. it's true names and words give power, but "first order" as a name sounds meaningless and intangible. perhaps that is what they picked it, loki reasoned. ]
Whichever you prefer.
[ he then wonders how much these people know. of astra, of . . . any of it. ]
[ Privacy definitely wins out for Poe, because he hasn't explained any of the details of what he's been through to anyone just yet, and while he's probably going to need to change that, he'd just rather focus on this right now. It's not that he didn't think he would see Loki again, he just wasn't sure about when. And lately time hasn't exactly been on his side.
But at least it's not nearly as hopeless as it had been before he was pulled away to a different ship in a very different dimension. ]
So are you going on a reunion tour now? [ He asks, half turned toward Loki as he steps up the ramp into the ship. He says it casually enough but he's not subtle, obviously he's curious about where they stand now, after everything that's happened to them. ]
[ loki fiddles with the ring on his finger, his old habit. william had let him go with all the love in his heart and loki knew that he would be welcomed back. besides, there were people william loved too. he's become . . . easier with the idea, though some part of him will always fear beind excised from a person's heart.
history has taught him that it's all too easy to let a loki go. ]
